Well the ponys in both photos look happy enough. Probably better fate than being fed to the lions

This "fed to the lions" thing is so emotive. It implies they're fed alive.

Not always, but sometimes, it's better a the horse to be pts than homed somewhere unsuitable (I'm NOT saying that's the case here). And if an unwanted or suffering animal is deceased, does it really matter what its carcass is used for?

Actually I agree, far better PTS and fed to lions in England than going abroad for meat.

Once again - from just an advert - everyone has made presumptions about these people. Yes, the advert looks odd and according to some people who have already posted the people in the photos look "different" from all you obviously beautiful people on here, but who's to say they don't have actually quite good knowledge of horses and their needs? The ponies look well fed. Just because someone is sitting on them wearing wellies and no hat doesn't make them a bad person. Why don't you phone them first and find out about them before posting assumptions?

I agree that the ad itself is crazy but I have to say that the horse in the first pic looks in absolutely fantastic health and condition if you ask me. I don't really feel that the photo says anything negative at all... except that someone chose to ride without a hat which I'm sure is a decision that most adults are capable of making for themselves (and I'm sure many people here ride without a hat on a regular basis, doesn't mean they can't care for their horses?!).

Just to be clear, I don't agree with the advert... I just disagree that the photos show something negative necessarily, at least not from the horse's point of view. :)

There is a serious side to this in fairness - well meaning people (with or without learning difficulties - but certainly with a detachment from the real world) thinking they can save them all, getting in over their heads, overwhelmed, and creating exactly the same situation that they thought they were 'saving' these horses from in the first place :(

yes very true and totally agree :(

I think it's a bit rude to laugh and make assumptions from the photo.

The person writing the advert could be the guy holding the horse and it could be a relation on the horse? Perhaps the woman is not the full shilling but then perhaps she just has a squint? The horse looks in good condition and has a lovely top line.

Jesus Christmas get a grip people! Laugh at it all because when you are not looking I am sure someone is laughing at you.

This ad is priceless and stuff like this is what made FHOTD famous.

Still laughing!

So if someone's not as beautiful as the rest of us (aw shucks, thanks Holly Hocks :D ) we assume they have something physically wrong with them? Now who's being rude?!

And how the fup are we meant to take any of this seriously when he's advertising wanting "mistreat or unridable horses" to teach on? And then teach on them with no hat.

Hey there beautiful one - I totally agree, but what I'm saying is that I don't think we should make assumptions....how d'you know that person on top of the horse isn't me??
I never mentioned disabled - I don't think you can make that decision from a photograph of someone sitting on a pony. There are a lot of people on here who like to trawl through the ads finding ones that aren't as perfect as we'd like just to mock them on the forum....
(Now I could find you one on Horsemart which would make you really laugh at the price - I know the horse and to be honest I think the owner has mistakenly put an extra "0" on the end, but I wouldn't post it on here!)

Pmsl at beautiful one! :D

Have you never looked at a photo and laughed, no matter who is in it?

I don't think it's a case of the OP trawling through ads to find one to mock. This person is advertising asking to take in "mistreat and unridable horses" to teach on...

Now just a minute. This is the first time I have put one on. I put it on in relation to all the threads about free to good home, not to laugh at the photos. Not my fault the way this thread has developed.

I do know exactly what you mean, and when I read the ad, it was definitely odd - but to put it on the forum just seems unkind when these people may mean well. They hopefully won't be teaching people on the unrideable problem horses. I do know a few people in the horse world who don't look as perfect as others might, but they are kind people with hearts of gold.

Now now!! I wasn't referring to you in particular - but there are others who have done it quite a bit recently....and I know that you didn't put it on in relation to the photo - others mocked that after you put it on.

TBF Preloved is well known for attracting, shall we say, different vendors.

The fact that these two look like 2 red neck hillbillies is quite "the norm".

Nobody in their right mind would entertain buying, selling or giving anything to anybody on that site.
