What is the biggest horsey fashion crime you have ever committed? that you can safely say you wished you'd never bought or been spotted riding in or dressed your horse in?
I am now passed embarassment. My instructor however gets very embarassed teaching me in pink jods, pink saddle cloth, bling headband and pink bandages (to be fair, he found me the bandages).
I do however cring at old pics of me on my old pony in nagrags... god they looked awful!!
It just so happens that my fav jods are pink, and my summer weight riding jacket is orange, and I always wear a flourescent yellow waistcoat, so I am hideously clashing!
I would like to apologise for riding my old jumping pony(may she rest in peace) in a pelham with double reins, one red rubber and the other blue rubber. I'm sorry, black all the way from here on in....
Hmmm what was mine, for some reason I always ended up with green things...bottle green. My mum bought me some green jods and at a later date bought me a green jumper (with a picture of a coloured vanner on it) very nice but teamed up with my green hunters, oh and a green jacket....I looked rather GREEN! and my other half used to call me a runner bean! and totally take the mick out of me.
every christmas my mum would buy me some riding wear that was...yes you got it GREEN!
Years later every time we see something green he asks me if I'm going to buy it....cheeky buggar he is.
Rubber bit rings - 'cos everyone else had them a few years back on my yard. Don't cause much damage, but hoss always seemed to eat them. Re-using that bit again now, and took great pleasure in cutting them off.
Oh, and white XC bandages. Bad idea.
At least I haven't yet subjected her to those SJing ear cover things! They are very popular at the local (unaff!) shows.

I was in a tack shop last week with my mum and she picked one up and said "Oh buy her this ,buy her this it is so cute, c'mon its only £4"
I have a vile pink saddlecloth that actually looks like a marshmallow..not attrative. I Ride in one of thos "mac in a sac" things whcih arent very attrative and make me look about five.
Ooh loads when I was a teenager and clearly not very cool. best was a rugy shirt that I thought was the bees knees in XC colours - of course we never did XC but "posed" in it plenty of times (cringe)
Horsey has a pink bridle with white lining and pink reins with white rubber grip...
We've changed back to the showing bridle until her plain one arrives.
I have to confess that I am a complete sucker for horsey trends - just ordered a purple Bartl half pad to match her purple SMBs & I use every opportunity I can to put her coolex on because it looks so natty!
I also have a Bartl half- numnah - used it once, and made the saddle fit so badly that I slipped off the side. Waste of money, must get it up on ebay...
my poor 12.2 coloured was bedecked in red numnah, red string girth, red headcollar, you name it. i even knitted him a rug in multicolours because mum wouldn't buy one.
i like to think my taste has improved a little since then, but my colours are still red and blue!

It hasn't happened yet. Which is saying quite a lot considering...
I had those westrope over reach boots and would change the petal to all different colours lol
I also rode my horse in Red and Green, his NZ stable rugs, numnahs, bandages everything was red and green.
I must confess to buying my mare a blue zilco bridle
for when i was breaking her, on the basis that she had chewed the reins on her brand new bridle (which had to be replaced). I also thought it would be good to have something i could chuck on the floor quickly if need be and not worry out.
Needless to say everyone on the yard told me how horrific it looked!!
I had a saddlecloth that was covered in pink, purple and blue flowers for my gelding
A vet who was visiting the yard marched over to me and asked if I'd made it myself. I went crimson and he then embarassed me further by saying that it looked like an old bedspread
Cheeky wotsit!
I still like pink and purple stuff but it's ok now because I have a mare and she told me that she likes it too

Good grief! Back in the olden days, I was considered the height of tacky because I had a black and blue browband, blue nylon reins, a sheepskin numnah, blue leg and tail bandages and a blue nylon girth. On a bay gelding.
My friend had a black mare, and she had everything the same as me except red instead of blue.
*wishes purple stuff was available back then, and quite likes swarowski (sp) crystal browbands...*
