Ive recently moved yards and my barefoot trimmer is unable to travel to me now, so i used the yard farrier that they all swear by- although only young stock are "barefoot"

He has trimmed her frog and i can see rasped the hoof walls :(

Is there any harm in doing this? I know about the walls it will have thinned them Grrrrr, but more so about her frog??

Is it worth asking if he will leave these in future or cut losses and find new barefoot? I wasnt present when he did them- work full time and he comes during the day.

Equally my mare is still footy at times, have people found that the pro hoof as helped with this? Diet etc is as low sugar as possible but she still hates walking on stones.

Any thoughts?

Has the trim made her sore at all? It's worth having a chat with the farrier and asking him not to touch the frog or sole. Did he rasp the hoof wall to address flare? If so, this needs to be resolved through diet primarily. Pro Hoof would indeed be good for this purpose. If your horse has a well connected hoof wall, then the farrier has no business rasping it.

How long have shoes been off now, and how much work is she in?
