Allbed

Hello. I use Allbed and really like it. Its very similar to easibed and I find it drains really well and creates a firm bed. I deep litter it as my horse is so dirty and churns everything up so find this works the best. Also find the droppings stay on the surface more than with shavings so its quicker to muck out. I have tried her on cardboard + shavings and find Allbed the best to deep litter. I use 1 or 2 bales a week + the bales cost £5.99 at my local wholesalers so works out cheaper than similar products. Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you. Do you have mats or use just the allbed?

My mare is on straw at the moment but I need something to soak up the wet bits. Used Aubiose before and changed to the yards shavings. But my silly horse has started eating them!

Is allbed more like shavings or wood chips?

I use allbed :) it's really fantastc stuff, we buy a pallet at a time, so each bale is £4.50 :)

there are two types, the bottom layer is fine wood shaving type, excellent for absorbing and never moves!
The top layer is bigger woodchips, excellent and also never moves!

You need to have the whole bed as albed though, otherwise it dosent work as well :)

No i don't have matting just the Allbed on concrete flooring :). It looks like tiny strips of shredded wood. Didn't know there were 2 types. I buy mine from GJW Titmuss and have only seen 1 type but they may do the other sort. It is quite good at absorbing the wet and the top layer stays dry. Think its best to start of with a deeper bed then you don't need to top up as often :).

You are meant to use both types, the fine wood shavings type one as the base, and then the thicker wood chip on top :)

The one in the link is the top layer, can be used on its own I think :) Will try and get a picture of horse's bed tomorrow :)

Oh, and I use it on concrete, only have mats at the front for them to stand on :)

Yeh the 1 i have is the bigger wood chip. It would probably be more absorbent if i used the smaller pieces underneath but works ok :). Haven't seen the smaller chip bales before. Will have to have a look for it.
