Does anyone feed this?

My horse is a no hard feed type. But given the snow and frosty grass I'm keen to line his stomach before he goes out in the morning and just give him that extra bit of bulk throughout this cold snap. Have heard it's good as a partial hay replacement. He gets about 3-4 sections a night, this would remain the same the fast fiber would be in addition.

Does any one feed this? What's your experience any other recommendations?

He's currently getting a scop of hifi lite and a handful of spillers high fiber cubes, as and when I think he needs it.

Brilliant stuff - compares nutritionally to good quality hay, only takes a minute of so to do, very low startch and can actuallt be used as a total hay replacer.

I really rate it. Toto has it as he gets very fizzy on hard feed but loses condition in the winter. He has 4 hadfuls of ff and one handful of hi-fi lite. It only takes 1 min to soak and a bag seems to last for ages! He loves it

Its very popular at my yard, there is about 6-8 horses fed it, especially the oldies with poor teeth. Think you can make it with hot water too for a bit of extra warmth, not 100% sure of that though.

Thanks, can you prepare it the night before?

Yes no probs - when I used it I made enough for a couple of days in the winter, as I left feeds made up ready to save time, but TBH with fast fibre being sooo quick there really is no need!

I feed it to my TB who does next to no work this time of year but drops weight in winter. He has full scoop of fast fibre (full scoop of dry pellets before soaking), full scoop of hi fi original and half scoop of hi fibre nuts twice a day, 3 times whilst stuck indoors during this snow plus as much hay as he can eat. He looks really well and it doesnt fizz him up, result. I know Im a soft touch but when its this cold I soak it in hot water, smells lovely!

I feed it to my old pony in her 30's and she loves it! She has a haynet but cant chew the hay very well - but still likes to go through the motions of pulling at a net - in the morning there are lots of little bundles of sucked hay in the box! Anyway, FF is great stuff

I use it on both my horses. Ideal for this time of year but also ideal for my good doers in the summer.
Gives all the vits and mins they require without being over fed.

I add a bit of ride and relax or power and performance depending on which horse.

i make mine up every night, put it on whilst i put his haylage in his bar by the time i am back its done.

fab stuff both of my TB ares living on 1/2 a round scoop of fast fibre and 1 scoop of hifi split into 2 feeds with adlib haylage and are looking fab.

Fab stuff but please make sure you add enough water - it says to add twice the volume but if you leave it and add more it actually soaks up nearly three times its volume so I always add extra. I hate to think of it taking moisture from inside the horse and swelling in its tummy and causing problems.

Great thanks guys, I looked at it today and ummed and ahhed think I'll get some wednesday instead of high fiber cubes

ps will add lots of water, used to have to make up C&C for old horse.

Ta muchly!

sorry to hijack, but off to the feed shop soon, can you just make a bucket up and feed a bit like sugar beet? I'm thinking in a big bucket to put a scoop and then fill with water? or will it be like bran and make them loose the more water you add? sorry for being thick but with this weather I would like to add something nice warm and sloppy in with their feed and I can't feed sugar beet.

Lochpearl...thats pretty much what I do with it atm.
I put a round scoop in a bucket and three round scoops water. I do this overnight and feed it in the morning either on its own or with Hi Fi Lite.
Mine seem to be enjoying it.
