Allen and Page feeds?

Does anyone feed the Allen and Page feeds? Mainly the Cool and Collected, and the Power and Performance I am interested in.

My 5 yr old gets choke really easily on the hifi and grass pellets he is currently on, so I am thinking of swopping to something like the Cool and Collected. Whilst looking at their website I also read about the Power and Performance for my other event horse.

Just wondered what opinions were on the feeds?

I used to feed Juno on Power & performance. Suited her perfectly as gave her all the energy she needed without any sillyness.
Her owner has been feeding her other horse (full ID) on it for 3 years now. Agains seems to suit him and has plenty of energy for BE or BS.

Cant help with the other one.
 
I started with Calm and Collected when I moved to a pro yard for some schooling [all horses were on that feed as recommended by A & P, since then I have used the other non cereal feeds because my boy is spooky.
The quality is tip top, and cost is reasonable. I rely on Fast fibre for feeding base minerals and to be non fattening.
The advice is good and I did try Ride and Relax, but that made him spooky, so you just have to try them and see how it works.
They have good Quality Assurance, and I am convinced they manufacture for the benefit of the horses, not the profits.
Ask the helpline for advice on which would be best.

I think they are ne of the better commercial feeds available.

I had R on the power & performance, it was the feed he seemed to do best on
 
I feed P&P with relatively good results - I have to supplement it with blood salts though to get the real spark my boy needs.
 
I used the P&P for a previous horse - in fact A&P gave me a supply to try in the run up to, and during a 3 day and I thought it was a decent feed.

Their Weight Gain has been my standard feed in the past and I add sugar beet/alfa A to suit the particular horse - I've fed everything from breakers to TBs just out of training to 2 day a week hunters on this in varying proportions and have been very impressed.
 
I've used both, currently feed Fast Fibre and P&P, I found the Cool and Collected left him a bit flat when his work load increased in the spring but then again grazing was bad at that point too.

I really rate Allen and Page, I have tried different feeds but always end up coming back to them, I also find it really cost effective :)
 
I had Bruce on power and performance.

It made quite a bit of difference for him. He's not (bless) the most athletic of creatures, but after a few weeks on the stuff he was riding with a greater sense of stamina and was offering me more in terms of power and effort.
 
My horses didn't do very well on it at all - I am pleased I didn't try it over the winter. It does however appear to be very popular with the non TB's maybe due to them being better doers. I went straight back to Baileys!
 
They are good quality, but tbh pretty standard ingredients etc, just very cleverly marketed. Their mixes are high in starch for what they are, and a lot of the cubes are basic, BUT a lot of horses look well on the feed, so depends whether you want to pay a premium forwhat is quite basic feed.

Do you know what is actually in the feeds I've mentioned? I'm actually struggling to find the breakdown...
 
i normally feed Monts on P&P and he does very well on it. It just produces such a huge volume of feed which takes ages to eat so I mix it half and half with Bailey's Endurance Mix.

Fieldmate is on mi of FastFibre and Calm+Condition as he gets choke and it works really well for him.
 
I feed a&p and have had good results from 3 horses, have used both r&r and c&c.
Never had a dodgy bag quality wise, easy to get hold of, good value and a sensible horse looking fab!
 
I feed my hunters calm & condition and power and performance. As recommended by the a & p rep. They both tend to run up quite light so the c&c deals with that and the p&p gives them the oomph! I feed it half and half. One is IDxtb the other full tb and they both do fantastically on it.
 
I feed my pony L-Mix I really like the A&P feeds. In the past I have tried ride and relax and slim and healthy as well.

Pony seems to like them and has nice shiny coat.
 
Horses for courses really. I have fed c&c and it didnt particulary do much. I think the names can also be confusing... Especially the c&c...
 
Yup My oldie does amazing on Veteran Vitality and my coblet is getting power and performance and topspec turbo for competitions.

I highly rate the feeds as affordable and palatable for my guys :)

I really rate the turbo as a comp additive :) give pony a good amount of ping and I dont have to feed it all the time justa few days before I go anywhere :) although shes been getting nothing for two weeks due to lack of saddle and me b*ggerin my knee so is a bit fat at the minute so isnt getting anything until I can get her out doing faster work again :o
 
I've recently moved my entire yard back to Aand P and get really super results .
The 'fatties' get the quiet cubes, very good broad spectrum nutrient base as well as pre and probiotic . This is fed with alpha A and speedi beet.
The competition horses get P and P or my stallion and small tour dressage horse gets the stud cubes , A and P oats or the competition extra cube.
I get great support from my regional rep. Who brings the weigh bridge and we keep an eye on all the horses weights.
The calm and condition has been very good at putting weight on a stressy show jumper , I don't use this generally as with a big yard soaking large quantities is not practical
Some of the names and packaging is misleading , ie the hacking cubes are actually medium energy a little below the Power and Performance
Other than that the quality is excellent and there are only vegetable derived clean ingredients.
 
Thank you for all the feedback. I'm off to get some fast fibre for the youngster and P&P for the comp horses, so fingers crossed :)
 
i feed p & p to my 20year old mare. she is an all rounder but was always diffucult and mareish. on this she is fab, people dont believe her age and she is still eventing (when not cancelled). No silliness she is much more focused and her staypower has improved
 
I swear by Fast Fiber, my youngster looks amazing on only FF and sugar beet (she was very very poor when I bought her only two months ago), and my older horse was on FF and oats, and always looked top notch. Great stuff. :D

Plus their advice line is super. :)
