Hi All,

Has anyone got any reviews on this please in regards to energy levels? Its for a 4 year old who is being treated for ulcers and although not thin, he does need condition and I'm struggling to get it on with my usual go too feeds. I like the look of this but see its high energy and although he's a very well behaved chap, he is a young blood horse so I don't want to give him any excuse!

thanks. I've used this before for a smaller horse and i had great results on it BUT the amount I was having to feed to get to their recommended amounts...I was going through 2.5 bags a week for a 14hh pony! It was when it first came out and was quite expensive, then they reduced the size of the bag so even less for your money.

I’m feeding my veteran Friesian on it. I’m very impressed and as something who went loopy on Calm and Condition, and was also a total stresshead before due to a field move, I have actually noticed an improvement in her behaviour. I was feeding 3kg of Veteran Vitality a day and still not happy with her weight. She’s now down to 1kg of Sooth and Gain with Meadowgrass added and looks great.

I was going to say the same:)

Regarding the energy levels both feeds are reasonably high but they are fairly low in starch and sugar which is what may make some silly, they need a decent level of DE for weight gain so anything that does the job you want will be relatively high.

I feed it at a lower rate with grass nuts and linseed so it works out ok cost wise but yeah, feeding it straight would be very costly!

Looks like the feeding rate may have been changed?

For my big 17+ hh horse he’d probably need about 4kg a day give or take so would be getting through 2 sacks or so a week. Which is on par with other brands on a cost basis. A 14hh pony would need to be a really poor doer / in extreme amounts of work to go through 2.5 sacks a week!

she was 30 at the time and struggling in the middle of winter. It was the only feed that she would eat up and not a huge lover of any hay or haylage (fussy!) hence the amount I was going through!
