I contacted Allen & Page for some feed advice and they recommened Fast Fibre, for a 14.1hh cobby connemara x 13 years old with a tendancy to lose weight in winter but can be sharp when clipped so no fizz wanted!

Would it give him enough energy to be able to compete dressage and small sj but not make him daft? Also want a feed with all of the vits/mins in it

My yo uses it on all her horses with calm and condition and competes neither are spooky and very level headed on this feed.Im going to add it this year over winter on tbx who needs to hold weight instead of beet.

Tried it on my horses and all 4 of them found it very unpalatable, as in even the very greedy that normally eats anything wouldn't touch it.

Ive used it to add weight to an oldy and it did work. Warning however, it says to soak with twice its volume of water but it actually soaks up 3 times the water if you leave it long enough so I'd add more water than you think. I was concerned at how much it would absorb once inside the horse's stomach. Other than that I think it is great stuff. and not fizz making at all.

I feed this to my good doer because it only has 8MJ DE per kg but it provides all the vits/mins for a horse when fed only 1kg so is ideal for a good doer. I feed it with HiFi Good Doer to bulk it out as it has much the same feed value (much like hay).

If you add Speedibeet to it, you would manage to provide the energy without the fizz at 12.4 MJ DE per kg.

Yes I would. I mean mine don't mind their food quite wet and it helps with the chaff and ready grass for my old boy. Try 2 scoops of water first - it absorbs like a rocket - then add more bit by bit and watch it soak it up. You could stop at any point to suit yourself but it will soak up to 3 so I tend to go with 3 or thereabouts and Im happy with that. hope that helps x

I've used it with my shetlands for just under 2 yrs now i think. They love it! I put them on it because of periodontal problems and havent looked back. I would say for keeping weight on without the fizz calm and condition would be better though. And with the adding the water i have always added the recommended amount and been completely fine

Hope it helps
