Allen & Page feed fed unsoaked,,, help!!

I have been feeding my horse allen & page calm and condition but did not realise it was to be fed soaked.
Hes only been having small scoop on an evening with some chaff.
He seems fine in himself but only had him 5 weeks.... but he is schooled 6 days a week.
Anyone help me, as he is getting it soaked now will he be ok?:confused:
 
do you think so thats good.
the feed was poured into a container and bag thrwn away so i only just realised.

Feel guilty poor thing
 
He should be fine my naught youngster who at that point i had only owned a day got out and ate a whole bin of hifi lite and then went onto half a bin full of allen and page food that had to be soaked vet said as she was fine in morn no issues. If a problem happens you would see within first few hours of feeding it to him.
 
Lol they do keep us on our toes didnt panic too much as my other highland has eaten a whole feed room before and didnt get colic guess highlands have strong stomachs. You only need to panic if its sugerbeet.
 
My husband offered to feed the horses for me one christmas morning - instead of using the ready soaked sugar beet he fed them it dry straight from the feed bin!:eek:

They were both fine, although I spent the whole morning observing them every hour.

I think there are some schools of thought that say it is okay to feed dry anyway as it passes through the stomach too quickly to do any damage, although I wouldn't recommend it.
 
Your horse is and will be fine.
I fed it dry once and three choked, one had to be tubed. It was only then i realised it had to be soaked.
A lesson learnt the hard way.
I know of others that have choked on the same feeds all fed dry.
I now thoroughly read every bag of feed i get.
 
Your horse is obviously fine but please feed it soaked from now on. My horse had one mouthful of this unsoaked and choked, also had to be tubed. Itwas so traumatuc he then colicked and my vets bill ended up well over £1000 not to mention my horse being unable to eat properly for over a week and having to have his water raised as his throat was so sore he couldn't lower his head to drink.
You've been very lucky.
 
My horse chokes on Dengie Healthy Hooves if it is not soaking wet! My other pony got into my tackroom and ate a whole bag of sugar beet pellets (unsoaked) and was fine. I think it must depend on the horse but i always soak my feeds, i never feed them dry.
