Annoyingly feed merchants ran out of our normal cubes so we ended up with these as apparently thr nearest thing. On the back of the bag it says to soak them with twice the volume of water, mix with chaff and feed.
Do I really need to soak them in water? One of ours hates his nuts going soggy (they already get beet mixed in their feed) so I know he's going to object to these if they are just mush.

no one i know that uses them soaks them

i contacted allen and page about quiet pencils and on the stuff they sent out it said about soaking them so that put me off, i dont know anyone that soaks pony nuts and i presume thats basically what they are! they didnt say a volume of water etc just that as with all feeds make sure you soak the feeding well, maybe thats just something that allen and page suggest rather than it actually needing to be done? id give them a phone and check if it will do any damage to feed them dry!

If they're anything like the same make-up as their Calm and Condition product, which comes in "pencil" form then yes I'd soak them. I've had 2 chokes from feeding C&C too dry, it expands by a phenomenal amount when water is added

C&C come sin much smaller pellets and contains beet so I always soak that, but these pencils just turn into mush, but dont seem to expand. So I think I'll feed them dry (they get beet in their feed and soaked C&C)
