I used the pink NAF fly spray for the first time on my horse today and she has come up in lumps all over.I'm going to discontinue using this fly spray and hopefully the reaction will pass.I just wondered if anyone has advice on how to treat them

I'd maybe try to wash off the NAF spray if you can as well - my Tb mare is allergic to lots of things; the lumps come up scarily quickly, don't they?
The good news is that they disappear just as quickly once the allergen has gone.
I'd not put anything on the lumps at all...unless they are open wounds, in which case a little Vetalintex gel or similar.

I used the NAF with Deet but did a test patch to start with. He had a severe reaction resulting in skin scabbing over and then peeling off. I rang NAF and they sent me a complaint form etc and told me to send my receipt too. The batch was tested and was fine but not for my horse! They gave me a refund. Ring them.

I swapped from my usual product to a cheaper one and liberally sprayed my horse. Two days later I noticed some big lumps and weals on her sides but as she reacts badly to fly bites, I assumed thats what the problem was and sprayed her some more. The next day she didn't want to let me touch her (normally she demands to be scratched every day) and when I did get my hand on her, her skin was red hot. I immediately put the cold hose on her, and very gently sponged her with hibiscrub. Repeated this for the next two days. On the third day her fur started to fall out and her skin was blistered. Basically I'd given her a chemical burn. Not surprisingly, the main ingredient of this spray was - citronella. You cannot begin to imagine how terrible I felt. Since then I've used homemade flyspray.
