My horse looks like he has 'nettle rash' on his shoulder with a few lumps on his neck. The lumps are bigger than horse fly bites and appeared last night. I wasnt to concerned at first but at weekend I bought Mollichaff calmer and started to introduce it, so Im now thinking maybe its an allergic reaction to that. What do you think?

Hard to tell without seeing a photo. My boy gets urticaria (nettle rash / hives) in the winter, but he has had a nasty reaction to fly bites on his tummy over the last couple of days. The ones on his tummy are much larger & flatter than those he gets with his allergy. Could well be an allergic reaction if you have introduced a new feed. My boy is allergic to wheat, barley, rye, oats, linseed, peas, soya, and storage mites so anything is possible!

Thanks for replying. My horse is allergic to wheat too! and alfalfa, clover, red ants and a load of other obscure things. When he was blood tested a couple of years ago I tried my hardest to eliminate as much as I could including wheat which was a nightmare as almost every feed had it in, in some form or another. I didnt at the time see any improvement so just carried on as normal. He was just really itchy back then but never got urticaria. Couldnt for the life spell it before you did, so just put nettle rash :D:D
