Has anyone used this for a horse with itchy skin? It's not seasonal i.e. sweet tich, but my horse gets really hot and comes up in bumps if he is not fully clipped. He cannot have more than 200g rugs even if it goes to minus 10. I have tried piriton which does help a bit but I'd rather use something natural. He has had to have steroid injections in the past for bumps as they were so bad and he was totally miserable.

Mine is allergic to the Forever products and they are supposed to be the best (I understood) so you could do a patch test.

Have you thought of having your horse tested for cushings if he has difficulty controlling his temperature ? Not that it seems to be age related anymore how old is he ? Any other symptoms you've noticed ?

Aloe vera gel can be brilliant for irritated skin, I use it all the time on mine. Its great on my skin too but my dog was allergic to it so I second doing a patch test. I get the 100% gel one from the health food shop or chemist.

Would guess at dermatophilis.
Dilute hibiscrub and flamazine ointment which is anti bacterial. Aloe vera shouldn't do any harm but avoid oily creams.

I'm pretty sure it's not cushings. He has no other symptoms. He is 9 and a TBXID.

Dermatophilis - that's the mud fever bacteria? I was given malaseb by the vet last time he had lumps and bumps which he got when we left a blanket clip on and under the hair, he came up in hundreds of lumps. Steroid injection worked a treat but obviously can't keep doing that because of the laminitis risk...
