Alpha A Oil & low cal balancer

My new NF pony is arriving on Monday. I have always had good doing natives who live on fresh air and who only benefit from a bit of linseed oil in a chaff and pony nuts. But she is not in particularly good condition; I have bought an Alpha A oil and Dengie's lo cal balancer with linseed oil and obviously she will have haylage. She also has a vit and mineral supplement. Any views on this combo? She is 14h

its hard to advise on feed without seeing the pony
if she is only a little underweight i wouldn't worry too much at this time of year as you wouldn't want her "podgy" coming onto spring anyway with the grass (hopefully) just around the corner
if she is only a little poor i'd maybe feed just a chaff with the vit and min supplement OR the balancer , they are both more or less the same thing so pick one or the other as you are wasting your money buying/feeding both of them

if she is more on the poor side and really needs some weight on you sound like your on the right track with the alpha A oil + vit & mins and linseed , just drop the balancer or the vit & min sup
also remember to check up on her worming history and maybe give one of the feed co's a ring if you get stuck as they are always happy to help :)
 
Thanks for that advice. She isn't really under weight, just a little and (when fit in previous photographs) is a fine and athletic NF not a the chunkier kind (sire Katric Capers and brother Wayland Canberry). She is now just typical of a pony who has been roughed off over winter and I want to give her a healthy boast not over feed her. I think I will stick with alpha a oil and a the lo cal balancer and leave the vit&min sup. I can't work out how to upload pics or would show you one
 
can't say without seeing the pony but go by how she looks on it. Would be careful not to let her get fat on it though as natives are usually v.good doers. Wouldn't give a high oil chaff to mine. x
 
Thanks for the advice. I bought the alpha A oil as I thought it lower in sugar and slow releasing energy which I thought suited bring her back into work as she has had 4 months off. I would plan as she gets her condition back to slowly change her onto alpha a (in a much smaller feed as hopefully we will get some blinking sun and spring grass!) I know her weight and have scales at the yard so I can check the amount I give her on mon. I am probably being obsessive!
