Already had enough of winter can't wait for spring/summer

With all this c*** weather that we are already having I am dreading another 2 months of this!!! Cannot wait for spring and summer when riding becomes a pleasure again. Went on hack the other day and spent most of it galloping sideways due to him being scared of the wind and various other things. Not helped by b****y tractor driving up my arse, even though he could see he was freaking horse out. We had nowhere to go other than straight till we crossed a small bridge and could get to one side for him to pass us. Anyway what I'm tryiing to bear in mind is its all good experience and can only make me a better rider, so by the time summer comes we will be all set to go out and have fun together. However my YO is of the opinion I should take him out on my own even after seeing how he is and knowing I''m not the most confident. Do you agree or should I wait till better weather, when consequently I feel more confident and of course horse knows this. Not sure If I should just go for it or not???
 
I would ride out in company to build your horses confidence and ask him to go in front if possible but you have another more experienced horse for support if needed! Can you ride in the school and have some lessons and try to improve your confidence too! Good luck :). Can't wait for the weather to improve think I've ridden twice in a month with all the frost/snow/ice :(.
 
I've hardly ridden with all this snow/ice, I'm reall sick of it now. We've got an outdoor school but its frozen, so wish we had an indoor.

I'm having to take all her haynets home to soak as the tap at the yard is frozen and it's getting a real bind now.
 
With you on wishing for Spring. Even the tap at home was frozen, yesterday, so I had to use a bucket and funnel to fill the water containers from the kitchen sink. Nearly got caught up there, earlier, as a blizzard started whilst I was feeding. It's still going now and I left the field at 09:15! Seychelles, anyone?!?

I was with company the other day, not that the other horses were more experienced they were both only 4 and mine is 6. He is usually the bravest. I think one of the problems (other than him not liking the noise the wind make through the dry rushes) is that he couldn't keep up with the others so kept having to canter. I have lessons each week, but confidence took a real battering 2 weeks ago when my friend fell and broke a vertabrae during out lesson. Have obviously ridden since, but do feel more worried about everything, and I know he can sense it. Even fell off myself on Monday while jumping, have very bruised bottom but thats all. I have hacked him out myself and he is usually fine.
 
I am soooo bored its unbelievable!
only tinsey bit of snow but frost means ground is rock hard. No exercising horses and just staying in all evening doing nothing :(
Bring on spring and summer :D

Do you not have snow then? I am the west supposedly 'micro climate' and weather has been rubbish. Arena frozen, ground too hard. Oh and lets not forget the wind that we get. But rest of the year is good, so should try not to complain too much!!!
 
I can sympaise with you I was a very nervous rider several years ago after my horse became the best rodeo horse u ever came across I hit the ground too many times and lost all my confidence! She was my first horse so I was inexperienced! She was wild and spooky out hacking and needed a confident rider to give her confidence! Not a good combination we just made each other worse :(. I stuck with it tho had some lessons on a school master, built my confidence, my instructor rode my horse and I hacked out at weekends with company and lunged a lot! Anyway the moral of the story is don't give up u will get there 10 years on I've still got the mare and we kno each other inside out :).
