But with black sheep it's intentional as sheep suffer copper toxicity very easily. Pop a black sheep in your flock of whites and you can very easily tell if copper levels are getting too high as it's fleece goes black
 
Correct, copper deficiency, with any other horse I would blood test to see what it is but we will be giving him a copper paste to rectify the situation!

hmmm .... how does this work with my jacobs?!
my husband has a veritable obsession with copper deficiency (dairy goats/cows ... horses .... people ....) are bits of my Jacobs the longed for litmus test?
Do tell, he'll be so impressed, he'll owe me big time
