mosco-mule, it worked, post away, i love the breed (am thinking of breeding my bitch, just don't seem to be many white versions around, I just wondering what colours I would have if i put her to a black and tan dog)
She lost the eye due to cancer. She was just over 10 when she had the op, I was concerned how she would cope but she adapted so quickly. Sadly, we had less than a year with her before we lsot her to further cancer internally. She was the most incredible dog, it is 2 years this month since she was pts and I still get tearful sometimes when I think of her.

oh gosh thats so sad, animals do adapt though don't they, probably a lot better than we give them credit for, my gelding has only one eye.

Had, they were the wonderfull dogs from my childhood and long since gone to the rainbow bridge
He always had major "issues",the GSD training club wouldnt have him back after first session head trainer said to my mother "madam, thats not a dog its a leathel weapon on a lead" but he was always the softest most wonderfull boy with us
God know's why he ended up so badly treated on shoved on the free to good home boards,By 5 years old I was taking him out and about to local shows winning the cute classes and young handler's over and over.
Shadowflame, in defence to breeders, a heck of a lot of them have been trying for many years to improve hips, by always using low hip scoring stock etc, although sometimes that is not enough (see my post on hip score sheets). However I do agree that there are still some breeders who use unscored or high scoring animals to breed from which is totally wrong imo.
Anyone thinking of buying a GSD pup please check that the parents, and preferably several generations back, have been hip scored and have low (preferably under 20) scores. Ask to see the score sheets of the parents. Even if the breeder doesn't own the stud dog (which is quite common) theyshould be able to get a copy of his score sheet. Also if you are thinking of breeding from your dog, get its hips x rayed and scored before you have it mated. Sorry, will get off my soapbox now. Am actually loving this thread, didn't realise there were so many lovely Shepherds on HHO.
