For slowing down bucket feed. Is there such a thing as a horse slow feeder bowl? Like the dog bowls or mats you can get. I'd rather have something easier to clean than a brick because the food will be basically slop from now on anyway!

I'd stop bucket feed completely to be honest but they need the minerals cos of the wonky grass.

Thank you! I was Googling but getting confused. Do you have one?

Erk. A brick or rock would be cheaper! But a vets bill would be much more expensive.

No I don't but I knew Parallax made one ... think their products are pretty robust and long-lasting and as you say, cheaper than a vet bill!

I read the title, and thought you wanted alternatives to use while clobbering someone/something.

If it's slop, will he need slowing down?

Mine is greedy and tends to bolt chaff or nut based feeds but I've not found he has any issues with a super sloppy bowl of Fast Fibre. He can just slurp it like soup - which I grant you, is gross :D

Adding chop seems to make him worse. He's consistently turned his nose up at L-mix soaked to soup then when I've added chaff to get him to eat it... choke. I'm trying speedibeet and grass nuts soaked to soup as we speak which will probably be fine. But I suspect he might need slowing down as well. Also I think I'll be happier if I've done something to physically slow him down too. It's such a worry twice a day!

Speedibeet and grass nut slop is apparently not very tasty and he was very unwillingly slurping it up. Thought he'd choked again at one point but he had actually just had enough of the horrid slop. This is the problem though. I need him to eat up for him minerals. Apparently he doesn't like slop. But worried about him choking on anything thicker. I've left it soaking overnight tonight so we'll see if that makes it any better. I might end up just getting proper sugar beet for him. If I do need to make it a bit thicker I will need a brick alternative.

I think favourite so far might be a pool brick! But if I needed two I'm approaching the price of the slow feeder tray anyway!
