Alternative to equitrek trailer?

I am looking for a trailer (second hand) and love the equitrek space trekka, but have heard bad things about the build quality. Is there anything out there with the benefits of the equitrek, but a high build quality? I am thinking that the equitreks are the only side loaders out there? But also like them for the space and that they are light and airy, plus the separate tack storage, so would consider a rear loader with front unload if it was large and airy with lots of storage.

I have seen a pegasus trailer before that I loved, but I have never seen another second hand again and hardly ever see them out there so maybe there is something not so great about them?

I'm not sure about an alternative but I have seen what happens to an equitrek in a crash and wouldn't put my horse within 100 miles of one

Are there no other side loading trailers at all? I don't want to get a little lorry really as won't use it enough at the moment to warrant paying insurance/tax etc. At least a trailer can sit for a while and I won't feel guilty

I have an equitrek trailer and have had no problems with it whatsoever have taken on moterway tows lovely good for loading babies and is the only thing that my big horse has plenty of room in - his neck gets sqaushed up and that's in a lorry

I have a Space Trekka after having had IWs before. I loved my 510 but had so many problems with the 511 I had to get rid of it so I traded it in for an EquiTrek despite poorish reviews.

I am really pleased with my EquiTrek, the horses travel so well in it & it's great having the storage. It tows much better than my 511 due to technicalities regarding the height of my towing hitch apparently. I really think I should have got an EquiTrek originally instead of the 511 but hindsight's a marvellous thing!

However....the build quality isn't great and my husband has had to go round and tighten all the screws/bolts etc due to the spare wheel coming loose because the fixings hadn't been tightened properly. There could be more care taken with the finishing, such as some of the sealant hasn't been smoothed off nicely and small things like that.

I know EquiTrek have recalled a batch of ShowTrekkas due to serious problems with the axles but I've spoken to them at length and it is only the ones that have been recalled that raise concern. The other models and all newish trailers are fine - or so I'm told!

I'm really happy with mine and more importantly so are my girls so if it's what you want I would go ahead and look at them if you can't find an alternative. Just make sure you look carefully as you would with any second hand trailer purchase regardless of make!

You will always find good & bad comments on anything - I know people who love their 511s but I had serious, dangerous issues with mine and I know people who wouldn't buy an EquiTrek but I love mine :)
