Tried one of these yesterday and pony really seemed to get on with it. Hired it from the bit shop, and I am tempted to keep it, but wondered if perhaps might be an alternative.

Firstly the one I have has hooks on the bit rings, not dr legal... I'm also guessing the low port isn't dr legal either... Poop!

Finding a suitable but for horse has been a lot of trial and error. Eventually had a breakthrough when I tried a Sprenger rs dynamic. This worked, so then went and purchased at Cotswold sport tounge saver bit, which has the same effect on horse, but a lot less £££!

So just wondering if anyone knows of an alternative to the Myler (in something that's dr legal)... And preferably cheap! Otherwise will be on the lookout for something secondhand!

The only dressage legal alternative I have found to this bit is the Informed Designs mullen round curve bit, you can try them from the Horse Bit Bank - comes in all the usual cheeks.

I believe the low port is dressage legal but the hooks aren't so the same bit minus hooks would be fine. Please double check though.

I haven't tried horse in a normal Myler comfort snaffle, but she needs something with the "arms" of the bit to give her plenty of room for a big fat tounge!

Will have a look at the other suggestions thank you

The low port is now legal in the US but BD apparently said last year they have no plan to follow suit.

Second looking at the Informed Design bits. If she will go in a jointed bit try the Demi Anky.

Or the NS team up.

Interesting. I've not found that connection but only goes to prove how individual and subjective bitting is. My suggestion about the DA (there are similar designs out there, too) is because it folds up in a way to produce an space between the arms and some tongue relief.

The Demi anky may be. Consideration... It's something as close to the Myler that I'm after.

She goes well in the Cotswold sport tounge saver, but better in the Myler, hence wondering about a dressage legal version of Myler!

My horse with a huge tongue and small mouth was happiest in the dressage legal Myler comfort. Although it doesn't have a port it's curved/shaped in a way that helps.

NS suggested a team up in the thinner mouthpiece when I asked their advice but the Myler came up on eBay first.

Cheers for that, may be worth trying a normal comfort snaffle.

My horse has already been ridden in a team up. Went ok in it, but was not the right "feel"!

I went from the Myler comfort to the thinnest team up as my mare has a small mouth and the fattest tongue ever! It suits her tbh as I ride from my seat. I only hack anyway and I'm not a skilled rider.
