Hello - In panic mode at the moment! Just been told that my 12.2hh pony needs up to 20 weeks of box rest. The panic being because we don't have a stable!! I've begged and borrowed use of one for a few days until we get sorted. Anyway - the solution short terms will be emptying the garage and putting the pony in there. It's more of a shed, with a slightly wider than normal shed door.

What I'm wondering is the best way of securing the entrance. Obviously don't want to have the whole door shut.

I was wondering if the fabric 'stall guard' things are secure enough (Like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mark-Todd-Competition-Stall-Guard/dp/B004MYAQYU).

Or would this be a better alternative (Like this: http://www.robinsonsequestrian.com/...ittings/slip-rail-brackets-zinc-3-pieces.html).

Or if there are any other ideas?!

It depends on the pony and how secure the area is, I wouldn't leave overnight with just a stall guard unless the area was well secured such as a fenced in yard just in case it gets out, ponies are very clever and will find a way over or under something like this, the slip rails could work in conjunction with the guard if you put one slightly above and one at the bottom it will limit the options of escape.
I had a tiny Shetland in at livery for a few weeks and felt it unfair to shut it behind a normal height door so fixed two slips rails at the right height so it could see out but not be tempted to climb over, this worked well as a cheap temporary measure, if you get two good wide planks it should be ok or even make a door out of it by having the gap between the planks filled in with a board so the door area is filled in and you could lift it out in one go to get in and out.

There was a thread in the 'Tack Room' part of the forum a few days ago called something like 'Dream Livery Yards' with a link to some picturex, some of the stables had doors made of small mesh which I thought looked excellent

Slip rails as in the robinsons link - I use these for all my gateways and also for a fenced off shelter area I have instead of a stable. 2 sets would be best, as already suggested, to prevent any escape!

Hi and thanks for the replies. I never seem to have much luck searching for old threads on here, not sure what I do wrong! But I'll have a look for the one you mention. Thanks for the thoughts on the bars, they definitely sound the best way to go. Will go for the 2 set option, can just see a bit of limbo-ing under otherwise!
