My wellies have developed a massive split in them and I've decided I need a more hard wearing alternative. I was just wondering what people would recommend? Needs to be suitable for wading in winter mud, but hopefully quite durable. I normally get Dunlop wellies but my last few pairs have only lasted about 18 months. Don't mind paying a fair bit if they'll last. They do need to be properly waterproof though!

AIGLE PARCOURS 2 BOOTS the rubber is the best I have found for not splitting, when I replace current pair I am going for a plain side instead of buckle fastening as straw hay falls down boot

Snap. My Aigles have developed a split in the heel which I have filled with hot glue but it won’t last so I’ve spent the last few days researching their replacement. At the moment I’m almost certain I’m going for Grubbs Frostline neoprene boots which get excellent write ups for being lightweight, warm, grippy and durable. I’ve found them for just under £70 in shocking fuchsia ?

I’ve gone the other way. A pair of €60 Percussion wellies lasted less than six weeks as one developed a huge tear. I bought an unbranded pair online for €12. They are much thicker and more robust than the succession of expensive French wellies I have had in recent years and are very comfy and supportive.

My Aigles have also developed a leak along the heel - my previous pair lasted for more than four years but this pair are giving up the ghost after 22 months ?

I’ve tried cheap ones but they don’t last long at all and as I wear them so much for dog and horse stuff they need to be really comfortable.

I’m going to look for an alternative as £170+ is too much for less than two years

I know we always say this. But honestly my hunters used to last years. Not any more.

Why is everything so rubbish nowadays!

Same, what happened to Hunters? Used to be really durable, but now seem to be more of a fashion item.

I now use these in Winter. Much warmer than wellies, waterproof, but I think better suited to below 0 as I am not sure how they would stand up to deep mud. https://www.eobuwie.com.pl/sniegowc...m9gmpKD7siRDPVf2IpQaAh68EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Ive just had a pair of Ariat wellies replaced under their guarantee as they have lasted less than a year!! Ive been wearing my Ariat grassmeres for yard duty. They are now 4 years old, tatty but still going strong. They stand up to mud and water and are warm as well. Ive tried practically every decent brand of welly over the last 10 years and they are all a poor substitute for the wellies of old

I fortunately don't have to go in deep mud so I wear my walking boots which are now about 15 years old. For wellies I have muck boots or Grubbs

I have a pair of these, they have just started to leak and are at least 16 years old and boy they have HAD lots of rough wear. Not only do I use them round my smallholding and dog walking but I work on 32 ton lorries now and again on the REL as well as in a trade waste transfer station, walking on broken glass, nails, concrete etc and regularly have large rats running over them, all repelled by these excellent boots
They have steel plates mid sole and steel toe caps. I am in the process of buying some more and recommend them.
Worth the expense.
