The gut balancer? It's only got a very small amount of alfalfa in it. My IDx who went bonkers for 72 hours after accidentally getting 150ml of alfalfa cubes in her breakfast tolerated the gut balancer fine.

I had Bo on Protexin earlier in the year and he became a spooky unrideable mess. However, I'd changed him on to a different feed at the same time so I blamed his behaviour on that as I hadn't realised Protexin was alfalfa based.

It could still have been the feed I suppose so I might try the Protexin for a week and see what happens. I don't need to feed it for long, it's just every time he changes grazing his droppings smell revolting and he looks a bit uncomfortable.

If it’s the gut balancer you want, alternatives might be:
Radiance Gold
Science supplements Gastrokind
Equitop Pronutrin
Pink Powder?

if it’s acid ease you’re looking for alternatives for:
Equishure
....and I think Gastric Comfort has some buffering.

My pony always gets very sloppy droppings if she changes field and I use the Protexin quick fix syringe for a few days, it works really quickly and it doesn't look like it has alfalfa in it - might be worth a try? She doesn't get a feed as she really doesn't need anything extra, so this works really well.
