So my horse is now in fancy aluminium heart bars with putty supporting her heals. She’s on in hand rehab work only, so mainly worked in the field.
The shoes are at the vet’s request to help with low grade front lameness (navicular), she’s had her feet medicated. Farrier said they won’t hold up to normal work. I’m sure he’s right. Anyone used aluminium for regular hacking?
The alternative is spider plates but tricky as no power, but the farrier and I have a plan for that.
Next step is three weeks of in hand work before going back to the vets to see progress. Will follow vets advice, just want to understand more about options.
