Ok guys

Its my sad duty to annouce there have to be some changes to ALW.

It was my intention that we would have all our Instructors and have maybe a disclaimer for people to sign to say they weren't liable. Sadly the more I look into this - the less it holds weight.

As much as I dearly, deeply want to make this as BIG as possible and raise as much money as possible - I simply won't do this at the potential detriment to the kind people offering their time for this event.

So it is with a heavy heart, and it IS heavy because so many of you have put yourselves out there, offering time and facilities way, way above what I ever envisaged when I started this, I have to curtail the event to JUST Insured Instructors.

I know a lot of the people who would have won a lesson would never DREAM of suing our Instructors or doing anything untowards, but I wont take that risk and I hope you all can see where I am coming from on this.

It does mean the remaining Instructors will be fewer and further between and I would ask that everyone who has put their name down to teach and who HAS their own insurance, please make it known now.

I will get around to speaking to you all personally regarding this.

Sorry guys, I had hoped it would be a lot bigger than this, but we live in a compensation culture and keeping my generous Instructors safe is paramount to me.

Maybe all is not lost. I for one would have a lesson with a person as a "friend" and happily organise it myself.... if only i knew which friend i could contact ....???? get my drift and of course i know of a delightful person i would like to send a donation to because she is doing something i wish to back.

If you do do this - please make sure we cough up before we attend to save everyone's embarrasment - i am sure that everyone would stump up the money...... but i am currently having a nightmare getting an £7.50 entry fee from a very good friend becuase they forgot their dressage time and did not turn up till after the class had been run !

Oh yes, money will be taken - and be able to be publicly seen, on my just giving site, before anything goes ahead :)

And I do get your drift GW :D

Sorry to hear that, especially after all your hard work to get people signing up to instruct :(

I presume you've already investigated all avenues, but I'm just about to affiliate my 'organisation' to England Athletics purely in order to be automatically covered by public liability insurance for my race - does the BHS not offer any kind of cover?

Stupid ambulance chaser 'lawyers'

Does anyone have any contacts within the equine insurance industry who could sponsor the event by providing insurance? Would think could be a good marketing prospect for any insurance co.

Could ALW become a club, and could an insurance co be enticed to sponsor ALW by providing insurance for club members?

Just my 2p thoughts.
