Always take your phone when out hacking!

Always always always take my phone. When I fell off and broke my leg, I don't know how long I would have been stuck there if I hadn't been able to phone an ambulance and my mum. My mum always forgets her, drives me mad! I keep meaning to get dog tags with my number, for his saddle and bridle, just need to do it!

Also make sure you know the address and postcode of your yard, so if you have to phone an ambulance you know where to direct them! Especially if its in the middle of nowhere.

I always keep my phone on me when out, if I'm in company or on my own.

Before mobiles were so common I had in incident out on a hack when my friends pony twisted a shoe and it was sticking into her foot. 2 young teenagers stuck in the middle of nowhere. We were so lucky that a very kind horsie happened to drive past. She pulled the shoe off there and then and shot back straight away to give us a lift back to our yard in her lorry as my friends mare was a bit lame. There were lots of people out looking for us cos we'd been ages.

A mobile phone would have been very useful!!!
