So today AB and I went off to Eland HT to do the pairs 80 course. It was a right family affair as the mare I was riding is the mother of the horse that my mother was riding (if that makes sense?!).
My mare is known affectionately as the baggage and mums horse H is known as Mr R.C Git.
Setting out our main aims were to get round in one piece, when together the horses sanity is something to be questioned and that can also be said for the riders. Baggage is an ex-racer and Mr R.C Git has Derby winners on both sides, so safe to say that our mantra was "slow and steady wins the race".
The course was lovely, a few of the fences were a little cut up, the worst being fence 3 (a brush with a ditch behind). This fence had an alternative and we decided to take this option whilst walking the course as neither of the ponios appreciate deep ground!
So we set off well, successfully keeping to our mantra, perhaps a little too much! Once the baggage had jumped the skinny at 7 she was off and the mantra was thrown out the window. She was so awesome though, if I pointed she jumped. Mum was grinning following me round!
Safe to say the best part of the course for both of us was the blast up the hill! We came in with a lovely clear, both us of thought we had gone to fast. But when we checked the results it turned out we were a little too cautious over the first 7! We were 21 seconds too slow, but surprisingly came in 5th! We got some lovely rosettes and a voucher each to spend in the shop

Have emailed Bill for some proofs of our photos as the queue was far too long to hang around in!
Home made cottage pie and Sauvignon Blanc on offer, quick the bottle is about to be emptied!
