Hi

Am I allowed to ask on here if anyone has or knows of a horse for sale for me? Not sure of the rules/guidelines on this one and I don't want to get a smacked wrist!!

Basically I have been looking for ages and am just about to do some wanted adverts, but thought if I could I would ask here first then I would.

There are lots of people who like window shopping for horses on here so if you do a post stating what you are looking for and in what area then they'll browse the internet and post links to horses that may suit you :)

3B - Fantastic thanks!!!

OK hope you are sitting down this could go on for a while!!

I have a daughter with Dyslexia without horses she would be a complete depressed wreck! so 5 yrs ago we started riding lessons, 3 yrs ago we loaned a pony, 2 yrs ago we bought her a pony! Then we bought youngest daughter a pony too.

Now I do most of the work during the week, I don't mind I love it!! I have had a few lessons and a fall which has knocked my confidence. We also bought my husband lessons for his Birthday and he is loving it too, so we would like a horse to share.

So we are looking for:

A horse to carry 13st (not me I add!) and husband who is 6ft and myself who is 5 ft6 so Im guessing 15.2 ish upwards, who is perfect for 2 novice riders. It needs to be safe sound and sensible. A confidence giver.

I would like to go hacking sometimes on my own, husband would eventually like to jump for fun at local riding club that we attend.

We would both have weekly lessons, and would go to local shows to do a bit of clear round jumping.

I have asked every horsey person I know and have been looking at every web site going for 4 months but I can't find a thing! Im not bothered about it being a mare or gelding or its colour.

It will go to a 5** home which will be its forever home.

I'm in Northamptonshire and willing to travel but not too far as I need to take our RI with us who is really busy and I can't keep her out for hours and hours so I would say within an hours distance.

As for price, a sensible price would be paid for the right horse.

So shop away!!

thanks

I would advertise locally. Put up wanted posters in the local tack shops/feed merchants and ask local riding instructors/farriers and vets to keep their ears open. Buying locally is a big advantage as people will know it's true history and temprement. I bought my first horse locally and I had him for 18 years so it does work.

ALLROUNDER FOR SALE

16.3hh tb x id 14yrs. bobby is looking for a new long term/perm home where he is going to be loved. Bobby will teach a novice to jump/dressage which has been proved in a local riding school. But will also take the more experienced showjumping. I have taken him out and been placed several times, fast againt the clock. This horse will happily plod for novice riders, but will do some lovely flat work and pop a fence for someone wanting abit more. A very lovable horse. Bobby can be nappy out hacking so i would advise to either hack in a group where he feels more comfitable, this relects in price. References available as many people love this horse. sad sale

Thanks. I have everyone I know keeping thier ears to the ground as I agree locally is the best. No one has heard of anything.

p.s any one with any more?

I like this people spending my money for me! lol.

When I was looking for one, I phoned up about an Andalusian, who turned out to be a little too safe and quiet for me, but he would have been what you're looking for! He was suitable for a complete beginner, 16hh but not overly chunky, and an absolutely stunning, flashy horse. Thing is, he was £6k  I'm sure he was worth it, but he was too expensive for me  I'll check if I still have the ad!

But perhaps a spanish horse is the way to go? They're so genuine, safer than cobs I would say, if I was in your situation it's what I'd go for :) (remember, cobs aren't always easy, I find my thoroughbred easier to handle and ride than my friend's cob, because he's so strong and suprisingly spooky!)

www.wellandvalleyfeeds.co.uk website has horses in Leics and Northants normally so may be worth a look? Also Blue Barns in Hardingstone has a big For Sale Board. Hope you find your perfect horse soon

Thanks ISH mad, I have been looking at Blue Barns on a weekly basis (which is dangerous as I always spend money in there!!!)

I didn't know about welland valley going to look on there now.

thanks

Ones I like

sold, sold, issues, issues, no reply! :(

Thought I was on to something yesterday when you all helped!

Anyone else know of anything for me close to Northamptonshire?

Thanks again SJ

I like 1 of these. I'm not allowed a couloured and as DH is going to ride too he has to like it.

Got a manic day today but am hoping to do a wanted advert to take out with me everywhere on Monday.

Why aren't you allowed a coloured?

Yes a wanted advert is a good idea, you could try posting it on some websites too.

Hubby doesn't like them, and I'm desperate for him to ride to as it makes life sooo much easier if he is interested.

Lap top playing up, trying to do wanted poster now.
