Maybe he bought you the bike because he hoped you'd like it and he knows it's exactly the kind of 'frivolous' thing you can't afford to buy youself?
Perhaps it was a wee bit harsh to bring up the cost so soon after the presentation though.....
I know what you mean, I tend to view cash outlay in horsey terms or electricity bills!! 45 for a meal out? That's a month's electricity or just over half a set of horse shoes or a new biothane breastplate or five bags of oats or three round bales of hay....

Probably better in soapbox but gut reaction? Enjoy your beautiful thoughtful present and don't p*** on his chips. He is obvious so excited that he got you what he considers the perfect present. Enjoy it. Obviously you would never have bought that for yourself so have fun and give him a big snog and a hug.

yes i think you are a bit ungrateful , its a present, take it as such dont compare it with everyday stuff , feal treated and enjoy it, i think he's put alot of thought into this. what are you getting him?
