Basically im out on the hunt for some sponsorship! My horse is capable of goin gout and winning and wins pretty much everything locally. However i would like to go further south with her and compete BE a bit more with her this year.
The problem we have is that the nearest location is a 3/4 hour drive away and costs a fortune in diesel.
I live in a smallish close community with some very wealthy businesses.
I was thinking about writing and asking one of them about possible sponsorship.
Am i being cheeky?
I was sort of goin on the grounds of "if you dont ask, you dont get". Basically the worst they can say is no!
Should i go for it?

Ye, why not?!!!
as you say the worse they can say is no, and if you put acros a strong argument, esp including your winning record etc I don't think its unreasonable.

Just be polite and kiss up etc!

I would try! As you say, the worst they can say is no!

When you write to them, tell them all the positives to sponsoring you that you can posibly think of, have a track record/show diary etc to show them your potential. Explain why it would be a good idea to sponsor you and what they would get in return! Make it seem viable.

Don't forget though, in these tough times people probably won't want extra outlay, and if you have no proven competition record they may be questioning whether their investment would be worth it!

do it!!! put it like a business case. eg how many people attend to spectate at your events therefore publicity for them. what press coverage do your events get etc etc. let them see what they're getting out of it in a business sense as well as what it could help you achieve!good luck!!

Go for it! I agree with you- don't ask, don't get!
Mention to them how sponsorship of you would compliment their product or service
ie: if they are a wholesome family oriented company, you could point out that many parents attend the shows with their kids, so the company's brand would be visible to their target market.
