Tough but Fair
Won't kill the horse to be in and mucked out once a day, but I'm a bit OCD about my stables and they get mucked out and skipped out constantly. However I'm well aware that I do this for ME, not the horses.
But while the beast was colicing and I was up at all hours with him I noticed that two or three owners came up before work to muck their horses out.
am I being mean leaving him in his stable un mucked out through the day? He has a big straw bed in a largeish stable.
The reason for mucking out as much as possible is to minimise effect of ammonia on respiratory system ie cleaner bed healthier horse. Decent turnout for as long as possible is healthier too. So yes you can keep a horse like that but it would be better to move yards or at least get up to the yard in the morning to muck out or pay someone to do it for you.
