Am I being realistic?

Good luck with your search! Apologise that i've not read all the replies so sorry if i'm repeating something!

I think you will have to be lucky (but you may well be!) to find something in your budget thats ready to go, unless you go for a younger, greener horse or a TB.

I went out looking for my last horse with a £2,500 budget, like you wasn't bothered about abit of quirkness. But everything non TB i went to see was either lame, a lunatic, lame, not as described or lame!!!!

Went for an ex racer for alot less money than my budget, couldn't have afforded a horse of his talent if he wasn't a TB! And not all TB's are wimpy! :D

I also know of a lovely 16.2MW chestnut gelding 5- from Yorkshire close to your budget. Very nice horse by all accounts, 2.5k can put you in touch with seller.

I also am just thinking be careful with how much you have budgeted for tack/vettings/transport home - as they can all add up :) I lost a fair bit of money on failed vettings when I was looking last year :(

Kitty I have a feeling that when you say that, much like myself, you have already decided on every rug/saddle/bridle/boots etc :D

I think if I was the OP, I'd pick up an ex racehorse at Ascot sales for say 500 quid, buy a trailer, spend the summer schooling it and taking it to RC clinics and shows, and then resell once it was out and about and hopefully turning into a very smart horse for maybe 2.5k - and have added 2k onto my budget to buy a nice ready made allrounder :p

Oh yes Puppy - everything from the two saddles, the bridle - the HKM set :D haha but nothing irks me more than scrimping - I've done it for too long! :D

Back to the point, yeah that's a good suggestion from Spiral - and if you fall in love - all the better!

Lots of people have told me about lots of project horses or ponies out there because I am small I can get away with either. I have been told to take one on work it over the summer & increase value & sell in the autumn & potentially double my budget but quite honestly although that all sounds very easy, in reality far from it, once something is with me I will no doubt fall in love with it & although it is not what I was looking for I will make do because I will worry about selling it on & where it will end up & yes I am a sucker! :p

Thank you guys I will certainly have a look through what you have found, I have thought about vetting etc which is why at the moment I am trying to look at things closer to home as I do not want to spending a small fortune on fuel as well.
