I am selling a horse on the H&H website and received a rather odd email, usual stuff except he is telling me he will send me a 10% deposit (before even seeing the horse) and with excess fees on top so I can pay the 'trainer' who is going to view the horse on his and his daughters behalf. To me this sounds all very bizarre! Has anyone else had anything similar? Am I being too cautious and it could be an innocent buyer?

Darcydoo it was a mr.miller! I emailed back asking for a landline as would prefer to talk about it over the phone, and no response. Such a shame they are targetting horse sale sites now. You can tell i don't sell horses often! Thanks for the replies, feel a bit of a numpty being so naive!

This has been happening many years now unfortunately I remember getting an email like that selling my first horse over 8 years ago now..

Scamming wotsits!

I did have a reply in response to an advert offering me a non refundable 10% deposit to hold the horse for a couple of days until purchaser could view.
It wasn't a scam, and I said yes please.

However, the bit from your enquirer about paying the trainer does rather give the game away. Another scam.
