Last Monday I went home from work early cause I was feeling really rough I have'nt been back scince, Ive let them know whats going on etc.
Went to the doctors today and got diagnosed with a acute chest infection and was given a sick note until next Thursday to give the antibiotics chance to kick in. The thing is my boss is going away for the half term with her family and I now feel that im leaving her in the lurch, but I really do feel like crap, I said to my OH that I would just go in but he does'nt want me to as he wants me to get a bit better first.
Im just worried that when I go back everyone is going to think that im a right cow for leaving them in the s**t.
What do you guys think??? Am I being selfish???

No, its work and it's not your business to have to worry about. It's better long run that you get better and then can fully help then when you are in full health. (In short term you'll only do the job badly and make more work for others)

not being self fish i currently have the chest infection going round and all i can say is i feel like crap and would dare think about going into school.

so my advice get yourself better first you'll be much more help to them fit and healthy

And if you have a sick note I am pretty sure you are NOT allowed to work. Hope you get well soon.

no way, doc gave you sick note for a reason, stay at home and rest on HHO, oh i mean in bed.

A chest infection is not something to bugger about with so stop being daft. If it gets a grip can turn into bronchitis and all sorts of other nasties so stay at home!

selfish - no
Daft if you go in - yes
I've had countless chest infections as I suffer with asthma and trust me you will be doing neither them nor you any favours by going in. Wait until you are totally better before going back to work. Just remember you have no control over when you are ill, and it is pretty obvious if you have a chest infection and you have a doctors note as well.
Hope you are feeling better soon

That's correct... legally you're not allowed back into work until the sick note has expired or your Doctor has signed you back on. It's to do with your firm's insurance... i.e. you're not covered if you're officially signed off sick

I can understand you feeling bad but if you're sick you're sick. End of...

I appreciate you are poorly and I am sure they do too. I would ring them and see how the land lies and show a little willing just in case.
