My horse went into a new field Sunday ,grass covers his feet, now he has stopped eating hay all together he was eating about 4sections at night before Sunday in his stable now his eating none, right is he full or is there something a miss , he is 3 years old could this be a teeth thing that started at the same time of moving fields,

Advice needed please

Have you had his teeth looked at? The grass still has quite a bit of goodness in it at the moment so he is probably just full up. He will probably start eating more hay again soon once the grass in his new field has been grazed down.

I'd say full too.
If Mason comes in at night he hardly eats anything, it worried me at first, and I asked a few people, but they said if he needed it, he would eat it! I'm reliably informed that Mason spends the whole night flat out asleep!

It could be that he is full or it could be that his teeth need looking at, their teeth will be starting to come thru about now. it maybe just worth it for peace of mind.

Yeah when I had him vetted 10 weeks ago , he has a couple of caps that were coming off . Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone , I was going to put him back in the other field tomorrow to see if he would eat his hay again.

Ours are in a field of good grass. If they go out with muzzles on, they eat their hay at night. If they go out without muzzles on, they come in and snooze, like we do after a big Xmas dinner, and barely touch thier hay! Make the most of cutting down your hay bill for a bit before winter!x

Ditto the others :). So long as he looks bright eyed and bushy tailed and isn't losing weight, he's just resting with a big grass belly :)

thanks MrsMozart he isnt loseing weight, and he does look happy, thing is only had him 10 weeks so dont really know all his little ways yet.
