Really want a second horse for RC sj and xc and poss low level bsja as neddy1 off injured at mo, been to look at a couple with no joy, and seen another I'm interested in.

As soon as i think about ringing up for more details i start imagining all that could be wrong, it goes lame when i get it home or i take it out and its been jumped to boredom and is nappy or its not 9 as advertised and is really 19 etc etc, i dont want to be stuck with one thats unsuitable (have been before nightmare) know to ask all the right questions and take someone with me, but just cant stop worrying. And also I've only ridden one for so long im so set in the way i ride, it might be really nice but if i dont get on i feel like ive wasted peoples time

Am i being silly?

And, i think in the price range im looking in I'm assuming they are all problem horses!!!, if not they are snapped up, so maybe added pressure to make quick decision?

Calm down! I bought a second horse almost a year ago under similar circumstances and it was absolutely the right decision - I had some lessons to get my confidence up about riding new horses and then looked at a fair few before I found the ONE and then Ping, it was obvious that she was right and the problem was solved!
Don't put excessive pressure on yourself and don't worry about what the seller might or might not think.
It is bl**dy terrifying trying to make any sort of decision but when you've found the right one you'll know and it will seem easy then.
Good luck!

Thanks, that all i need a reasuring comment, I'm sure I'll know the right one, made enough mistakes in the past to know the wrong ones!!!

Could you ride your friends horses to get a feel for different horses - I found that really helped me to work out what I was looking for and build my confidence riding strange horses etc...

I'm sure most genuine sellers would rahter you said straight up that the horse wasnt for you if you know from just meeting the animal! Its more of a waste of their time if they have to tack the horse up for you, wait while you ride etc etc.... If they are funny about it, then they probs arent the sort of person you would want to buy a horse from!

You will know if the horse is for you - go with gut feeling!

I went back for a second look at a horse that I had tried.... I hadnt really liked it the first time, but had no real reason not to like it, so I thought I would give it a second chance, and it bucked me off!! Should have gone with gut instinct!!!

(I didnt buy it!!)

Yes, just relax you'll know when it's right. If it's any consolation when i was looking for a horse earlier this year I tried 3 in one day - the second bronced me off in front of all the sellers' livery clients which was very humiliating, so I was a little apprehensive about going straight on to the next one, but she was absolutely perfect and haven't looked back since buying her in February. As soon as I sat on her i knew she was The One!
