Am I being unreasonable?

I know its a lot really, but the first person on the yard gets there at 4:30-5am and feeds some of the horses in our barn that he turns out. My horse gets stressy if others get fed and he doesnt, so for his sake I pay for him to be fed by someone else, even though I usually get to the yard between 6-7am.

Me thinks you are a lot like me - mug!

I normally turn out 6 horses each am and bring in too in the eve.

Feel guilty when left in for ages (some don't come down to the yard until mid day)

I think it's cheeky & taking the P to expect you to feed. Fair enough if other people feed too but why should it always be you? I suggest you make a rota up for the yard so everyone does an early morning. On our DIY yard everyone sorts out their own, regardless of who's first up.

My horse is in a small barn with 2 others and I share the mornings with the owner of 1 of the other horses (the owner of the 3rd is in Dubai working, so we just chuck his already made up feed over the door but YO turns him out). We have a rota between us and don't get involved with other people's horses. Am I correct in think that the person who asked you to put the hay in doesn't work? Then that's even cheekier!

I would not hold with the policy of first up feeding all horses unless there was a rota, because you end up in a situation like yours. If people can't be bothered to come up & feed their horse, tough. They have to wait until the owners get there. We don't have a problem with door kicking at our yard.
