I just wondered what you thought.
Basically I have been loaning/sharing for the last 4 years, but I am finding it very difficult to find the right combination of horse/owner and yard.
1. I had a pony on part loan for 3 years and it was amazing, I had the best time but I outgrew her so I had to move on, I would still be there if I hadnt grown too much!
2. Next was a very green horse that i got on with quite well however the yard became uncomfortable as they treated the younger people (me) with little respect so I left after 3 months i think.
3. The horse I was loaning was lame and the horse management of the owner was pretty shocking so i left after 2 months.
4. Currently the horse i have is lovely and so is the yard however for the past 4 months i have only been schooling, I have been on only a few hacks (only with the owner, not allowed on my own/with other under 18) and i have done no jumping. I wont go into too many details but I am being very controlled by the owner as to what i can and cannot do, and tbqh its getting me very down and im not enjoying riding anymore becuase as much as I dont mind dressage/flatwork for 4 months its is very tedious!
So what im asking is that am I being too fussy with the horses that im loaning/sharing and was I really lucky with the first horse that i shared, or have I just been unlucky and should I keep looking?
At the moment I feel like I should just give up until i can afford my own which will be a long way off yet as I can't afford it.
I apologise it was longer than i expected!
