Am I being unreasonable??

I can actually understand where she is coming from with regards to a rota - I would find it difficult not to know which days in any one weed I would need to do poo picking if the sharers days are always changing.

.....I have poo picked/mucked out through 4 pregnancies with chronic spd....

As someone with severe SPD I find this difficult to believe...in my last pregnancy I couldn't walk without crutches by the end, and this time round (31 weeks) I'm nearly there again. No WAY could I be mucking out and poo picking now, on a bad day I couldn't even walk from one poo pile to the next.

OP, your health in pregnancy is the most important thing here. If you don't want the woman there, get rid. Talk to the landowner if needed, but this is the time to be cutting stressful parts of your life out - you don't need them!

Yes, it was your choice to get pregnant, and pregnancy itself is not an illness, but pregnancy can CAUSE some illnesses and you need to look after yourself.

Whilst I do not think it is unreasonable to rosta poo picking duties and your livery has done nothing wrong by asking for this, ultimately you rent the yard so the decision on how it is run is up to you. By taking on a livery you inherit management responsibilities.
If that is not what you want you are best to just end the arrangement - I'd say do it tactfully though just so as not to rock the boat with landlord.

Never heard of SPD, but just realised that I had SPD and sciatica in all my pregnancies. You learn something new everyday, even if it is 30 years too late, I thought it was normal in pregnancy.

As long as everyone is taking out at least a very full barrow load every other day and the field isnt still covered in shiiit, what does it matter who does it when, if someone has been there befor you and taken out a barrow full and you happen to choose to poo pick and fill another barrow full, good for you, why do folk always try and make issues when not requird. OP i would give her some rules re fields or tell her to take a walk.

I have a similar situation, got another livery with two under 13hh ponies, gave her two decent sized fields, rested for 6 months so she could rotate during the summer, not good enough she wants 4 and i can just have 1 yet i hasd 4 horses, one was 17hh, another 15.2, another 12hh and a mini shetland, the field i was using hadnt been rested for over a year. Now i am the bad person..........

Mild SPD can be quite common, but you have to be very special to get the totally debilitating kind :(
When it gets bad its not like 'it hurts to walk' it really is - 'I CAN'T walk' - and I've got nothing but sympathy for any fellow sufferer! :(

ETA another fun fact horserider - you can't get sciatica from being pregnant. That shooting pain from lower back down bum and into leg which is usually mistaken for sciatica in pregnancy is actually Pelvic Girdle Pain, similar to SPD and the 2 often go hand in hand.
So you see, the fun never ends with pelvic pain in pregnancy! :D :rolleyes3:

Poor you, I hope it's not so bad for you this time around. I do remember being in absolute agony and having to use furniture to get around and thought, wouldn't it be great if there was a kind of sling to make life easier. My GP's were brilliant but I think back then, it was just accepted as part and parcel of having a baby.

Some days I can't walk. But on the days I'm ok I do try to do the poo picking with one of the sharers. I personally would feel bad if it wasn't done! But it is! Irregardless to what days etc the field is never full of crap!

Read the thread,

Just give her notice it's not worth the hassle if you can't even rest your fields or poo pick without her jumping in and complaining or ''fixing it herself''. sounds like she is trying to run it in my opinion and i think with her gone you won't be as stressed and your horses will be where you left them (the moving fields would have been the last strike for me!)

As someone who works long full time hours I also would appreciate a rota for the poo picking so I could arrange my workload around time spent doing my poo-picking riding etc, so I don't think she's being unreasonable asking this, BUT - you are the person in charge.

If you think the scenario could arise where you gave her notice to leave, could end up souring your relationship with the landowner where you may find yourself being asked to leave too, the easiest solution is to give her her own paddock so she can poo-pick what she likes, BUT if the landowner is quite accepting of your request for the friend to leave then I would certainly be giving notice to her, you don't need the stress or awkwardness of dealing with an awkward livery, pregnant or not. Your yard your rules. The rosta I don't think is unreasonable in being asked for but moving horses that arent her for no apparent "safety" reason, then I'm afraid I'd be quite angry about this and if she's ignoring your requests then the only alternative is for her to leave.

I think the best thing for you to do OP (pregnancy aside) is have a good face to face conversation with your landlord - tell them the problems you have experienced with their friend, before you give her her notice. Otherwise, with your livery being the landlord's friend, it has the potential to get a little bit messy, which wouldn't do your stress any good.

did you go back and read what she had written?
This is what you wrote - Quote
Or the sharers? Aren't they capable of poo picking themselves? It doesn't take two people to poo pick.

Her sharers are already poo picking!

I think SF meant that her sharers do 100% of their (IE two sharers and OP) portion of poo picking, whilst OP is pregnant.

An alternative is to say with your pregnancy etc... that you have decided to pay someone to do the poo picking which means her livery will go up a third share of the cost.

However, I do get the feeling that you really want this woman off your yard rather than sorting out issues with her. It seems like you have not dealt with other issues with this livery for whatever reason and now this final straw is a big thing to you

Can you clarify, how did this person get on to your sole purpose yard? Were you approached by the land owner to do this as a favour? Are you getting paid their livery directly or is their fee getting discounted off your rental fee?

I think you need to go and speak to the landlord then depending on that conversation, you decide if you give notice to your livery or if you wish to speak to her about all the issues and come to some agreement if possible.
