Am I being unreasonable?

Two weeks yesterday I took my saddle over to the saddler along with ponio for him to assess its fit and work out where it needed tweaking, and he assured me that it just needed the flocking redistributed and should take a couple of days.
Two weeks later it's still not finished

When I rang to chase him about it on friday he told me he'd have it finished for monday, yet when I went to pick it up yesterday he'd still not finished, and seemingly it didn't occur to him to ring and tell me either. *Men... sigh!*

Held my tongue, but I think this is unacceptable. I'm not in a particular hurry for the saddle as I've had my op, and ponio has managed to pull two shoes in the space for 4 days and has been generally under the weather so I wouldn't have ridden much anyway, but still!
Am I being unreasonable or am I justified in telling him I think he's rubbish when I go later to (hopefully!) pick it up?

I would give him a deadline for completion - if he doesnt meet that I would collect the saddle and refuse to pay. Unless he gives a very good reason for this amount of delay I would be very unhappy.

I can't bear it when someone says something will be ready and it's not. Why can't people be realistic about work loads and completion dates??????

I had all flocking taken out of mine and reflocked and it took one day ! However I had liaised/booked in the actual flocking with the lady who works in workshop as opposed to the actual saddler himself.

It it only needed tweaking, why didn't he do it there and then ??? Presumably he didn't know you didn't need it back very quickly ??

If its the saddler I think it is, get on to him and explain that its not acceptable... he is forever delaying and being too busy etc... your money is as good as the next persons!

Thanks all, just wanted to check!
He knew I was going in for my op, but also knew that I wanted to be back in the saddle asap... was riding my gelding 2 days after surgery, so would have missed out on quite a bit with my youngster now had she not made her own plans to avoid work

MiffyH... where are you then?? I'm talking about RK, he's always been hit and miss before, sometimes really quick and other times has been slack but has seemed genuinely embarressed when he's needed chasing. This time he couldn't care less.

It may well be just a saddler thing - I sent my long boots in to be altered about 5 weeks ago and I rang them AGAIN today, to be told that he has 'nearly' done ONE of them!!!

I would have been well pleased if it had only taken two weeks!!
