Today, went down to the stables to ride rusty for the first time after my accident, arrived at 11, caught him after some time in the field, groomed for 2 hours, then rode him at 1, came in, washed off, groomed some more! by this time it was 3PM. I am supposed to be going to a local show (nothing big) with my friends, so i helped them get their horses ready for tomorrow, i spent until 6PM helping them, then helped get the feeds done. After being at the stables for 7 hours, riding rusty, helping my friends etc. Before i went home i was told "Hi about the show tomorrow, after your help today, we have decided we dont need you! we are very sorry but we have decided to take someone else instead" this someone else doesnt have a clue what to do! i dont see how they are going to be ready for the classes intime while they play with their hair, i usualy get their horses ready. Now they have an incompetant fool helping them. I have a feeling i will get a phonecall at about 8 in the morning saying "we need you Stephen" my responce will be "TOUGH!!!"

Am i being messed about with because it definately feels like it!

END.

Stephen.

they don't sound much like friends to me!

How do you fill 2 hours worth of grooming?!

RE:Friends, i have been helping them to show for 2 years and now they dont appear to need me -.- V upset

Stephen.

Don't go to the show even if they beg. To me it sounds like you were used.. I hate it when people do that so if someone asks me to help them, unless they have helped me before or I KNOW they will return the favour I just say I'm busy.
If I were you I would put your phone onto silent and go back to sleep
smile.gif

Well. i think i'll just bring a chair and sit by their wagon.. silencia! and if they need me, well their loss, you dont get someone for nothing! either sit on my bum, or go find someone else i know
smile.gif
... or i could sleep all day!

Stephen.

Even if they didn't really need you whats the harm in you coming along and helping out or just watching??

Weird people...

where abouts in North Yorks are you??

I wish you lived near us! Anyone who would groom for two hours free would be really appreciated.
There could be a couple of reasons from your post, if you haven't been there for a while they might genuinely have found someone else to help, or perhaps you could (and remember I'm only suggesting this) perhaps be a bit bossy...
Sometimes people resent the attitude of someone feeling competent because it undermines their own confidence.

well i live in ilkley! and i think i'll go have a nice day in the sun.. and bring my coat incase it rains!

RE:henryhorn

I see where you are coming from, but i explained i would be ok for the show, and they were there when i injured my knee, i tend not to be too bossy, if i was bossy i would tell them what to do, not be ordered round for an afternoon!

Indeed it was painful! the arena i ride in in winter has telegraph poles for beams, rusty spooked from a lunge whip in another corner, and as you can imagine i went straight into it! :P if only my legs were skinnyer i might have missed it! lol

Stephen.

Omg Ilkley you could sooo groom for me
tongue.gif

what show you going to tomorrow and waht yard you ride at??

On a tangent...could it be that these people are worried about taking you in case their horses hurt your knee...you did say it was the first time you'd ridden since your accident.
I know if you were my friend (not that daemons have friends
wink.gif
) I'd be paranoid in case my stupid horses pulled you or barged you...?
If you fancy a trip to Glos, you can help me with mine for as long as you like....!

You know you're fine now....but maybe they don't...and are embarassed to ask you/talk about it? People are often reluctant to discuss health issues with people for fear of being insensitive.

Ilkley god didn't think it was on tomorrow

I'm of to PC rally though shame. I used to ride for someone in Ilkley a bit, a pony called Cracker, has been ridden by everyone around the circuit, has been retired now though. Just go to the show anyway its not a bad one to watch.

Also i way prefer Horsforth not as cliquey IMO and their showrings are bigger.

I have a very dirty horse in east yorkshire............... hint, hint. Seriously though I would be very hurt too. It can be hard to speak to people and tell them your feelings are hurt, but you could try and drop it into a conversation somewhere as it must be important to you - otherwise you wouldn't feel hurt at all. If someone offered help with my horse (without billing me at the end of it) I would be soooooooo grateful. It is probably just a misunderstanding and they maybe think they have imposed on your friendship enough without asking for even more help. I doubt VERY much they meant anything unkind by it

But could like tricksibell says it might just be a misunderstanding and they think they're doing you a favour by not asking you to help 2 days running ??

[/ QUOTE ]

This was my first thought as well - perhaps they were trying to be kind and felt that you had already done more than enough and it wouldn't be fair to ask you to help out at the show as well?
