Pictures Am I doing right? Lockdown management with previous lami

Have his feet been done since you posted the photos?

Farrier was due to come 30/4 however sent him photos today and he is ringing me tonight to discuss.

Will be mentioning his long toes and underun heels that people pointed out - is there anything else I should be mentioning?

They can get pulses from being unbalanced, long in toe under run heels puts strain on the laminae so I would want something done to them asap, I would see what he thinks but my concern would be if he thinks those feet are acceptable he is not really the right person to help, they didn't look good 10 days ago and will now be worse so I would want a bit more than a discussion, some action with a plan to either take shoes off and rehab or get him shod and have them done more frequently especially at this time of year but in the circumstances getting them off would be my preference.

As above I would say if your farrier thinks those are acceptable at the moment he doesn’t really know what he’s doing or he doesn’t know how to fix them. I’d try someone else.

Thanks - we moved to the area in August last year and I first had my new farrier out in September. I know he is well respected by many in the area (and on our yard). I have just looked back at photos from when we first moved here (before current farrier had been to him) and his heels don't look significantly different to me - I assume it is a matter that will take time to correct? I guess I wont know until I ask but I am pretty confident it wasn't "caused" by my current farrier.

Note to self is to swat up on feet!

It's not likely the current farrier has managed to make them look like that in 6 months - heels that look like your horse's are usually the result of years of poor management. But that's not to say he couldn't have started to mitigate the problem.
