I am moving my horses to a different yard at the end of the month and just want to check if you think I am doing the right thing.
Both my horses are on part livery, I ride one of them four times per week on one, maybe just two or three on the other old boy.
The yard I am currently on is 45-50 mins travel from home. It has huge American Barn stabling, an indoor horsewalker and a small (less than 20m) indoor school. The hacking is really boring - all on road and you just go out one way and come back the same way.
The plus side to the yard are the horsewalker in winter especially when its too snowy/icy to get there and they don't really get turnout in winter, and the indoor school is great when it's raining, although the downside is that you have to water it for 15 mins first as it is incredibly dusty. Moving is being made difficult as I really get on with the couple who run it and they have been really really good to me and my horses.
The new yard is about 30 mins from home, has all year turnout,a full size floodlit outdoor school and hacking to die for - all off road if necessary for miles and miles. Downside is that there is no indoor school, and the people won't know my horses the way that they do at the yard I am leaving. I only do a bit of unaffiliated prelim with them and love hacking out which is the main reason I am going, as well as being closer to home.
I just feel so disloyal leaving the yard I am on.
Am I doing the right thing?
Sorry for the long thread!
