I have only been riding my new horse about 2 months now and so far competeing wise we have achieved:

1st show-dressage 60%

2nd show-unaff jumping (90cm), fast time double clear unplaced.

3rd show- unaff jumping (1m) only double clear out of 40 1st place

4th show- first time indoors and first time affiliated jumping 6th in the 1.05/1.10 handicap

6th show-second time indoors unaff jumping 1st in the 90cm out of 55 people (second places time was over 10 secs behind)

As I'm aiming to do children on horses with him am I doing well enougth so far?

don't know what requirements are for children on horses...

But if you've only been riding said horse for 2 months, I'd say thats flipping brilliant!
Well done!!!

Children on horses are for people under 14.

You need to go to a viewing trial to get picked onto the team, it is better to go to more than one viewing trial as it shows your into it and your more likely to catch the selectors eye :)

It sounds like you definatly have the speed and consistency, are you both up to the heights? you don't have to rush into it!

Hiya, there good results. Just a little bit of advice (i used to showjump as a teenager till i got pregnant). As you said the children on horses are very big tracks, so dont ruin your horse galloping round the smaller classes you want to build it up with nice double clears. Also you dont want to bump his winnings high so when your ready for your regionals (you know after your 4 double clears). Get a good showjumping trainer to help you and theyll explain all this properly for you and guide you the right way.
Well done for the results youve got though, youve obviously got a good horse.

I think you need to affilliate first? I'm open to being wrong but your results - good as they are! -are unaffilliated? You need to affilliate and build a track record.

Also - do bear in mind that at 2 months you are about to the end of the honeymoon period with a new horse. It doesn't always happen and hopefully it won't happen to you. But it is worth bearing in mind that things can go south for a bit between the 2 and 6 month mark with a new horse.

I presume you already have an SJ trainer with experience of getting people to that level. They should be able to advise you best and ease you over any hiccups.

Great start - good luck for the future.

he is registred and at the moment i am registered as a pony member but this runs at soon so i'm going to reregister as pony associate

he has a big jump on him (jumped 1.60 at home with owner, i only share him but i can compete as much as I want :)!)

my instructor is a showjumping one and she is very helpful, she has taught me alot :)

he currently has very little winnings due to him not going out much

thanks for all the advice guys :)
