Hi,
Am horse hunting at the moment with what i thought was a fairly decent budget of up to £6500. I guess like everyone else who is looking i am after a saint! Preferably a gelding apx 15.2 age 7-10 with manners to burn.Rally wanting an ISH or connamara x type. Want to hunt, hack and ride on the downs over the winter then compete SJ and XC and do pleasure rides etc. Need to be able to hack out on my own and in company and have no vices.
Now i know that seems a big ask and if i were only willing to pay £3000 i know i would be pushing my luck.
Just wanted to ask you guys whether you thought i should be able to get a sane hunter with enough scope to BE intro for my budget as i am struggling at the mo.
Oh and i'm in east sussex in case that makes any difference! Thanks!

Sounds great im sure theres lots - try the Friday add? Windmill Feeds used to have a good for sale board. - (where I found most of mine!) I think £6.5 is a huge budget - lucky you I hope you find the right person - how about the pony club? - instructors etc often know of things coming up...
Good luck I hope he/she is out there somewhere for you!

I have a horse that would suit but shes a girlie!

i had the same budget and looking for the same sort, found my boy in Horse and Hound and he is lovely - he is greener than i wanted but i wouldnt swap him - good luck you should get what you want in the end xxx

i used to type in 16hh idxtb gelding in google search bar and see what came up everyday!!!
talk to tack shops, they know everything
riding club sites
local paper
local livery yards
some hunts have classified on their websites

Thanks Kao.
That last one, the grey on horsemart looks like my ideal horse! I saw him as soon as he came on the website. (I'm a sucker for a grey!) Only trouble is that he must be about 6 hours or more away. Such a pity!

Thanks!
Hadn't looked on ad trader before.
Think 16hh would be my maximum as i'm only 5'3 and 8 1/2 stone although i'm pretty strong! could possibly have something as small as 15hh but might feel less confident out hunting on a smaller one? Ride a 15.2 at the mo and that feels about right. Know all horses ride so differently though so thats why i'm keeping my options open.

you might have to change your criteria a bit?
mares can get a bad press and i know of some brilliant mares, also what about a TB?
also agree with KVS, if you can find a good dealer then go have a look.
