Right, had a guy out from Saracens
And he advised I fed the following to my skinny warmblood (was skinny when I bought him)

Per day - split 2 feeds

1 scoop alfaa
1 1/2 scoop super fibre pencil
1 cup bio life
As much hay as I could get in him.

I'm also keeping him rugged (light) and in at night.

Sooo he's now looking amazing. Only problem is (even with calmer supplement) he is still spooky....

Is his feed making this worse?

I'm concerned that these sales guys (that's essentially what they are) will just continue to have you feed your horse with products which will line their pockets.

Thanks in advance xx

Just to compare, you could maybe go on line to Bailey's feed and see what they recommend. You can do it all on line. Good luck!

doesn't sound particularly over the top to me,
as long as the horse is around 16 hh
and IN WORK

sounds like your horse has gained condition on this
(which is what you wanted?)

but, like all diets, if you put in more 'calories' than you 'burn off' then you'll gain weight

SO, assuming i understand you right
your horse has now gained the required weight

which by definition means you must now do one of two things

either increase work
or decrease feed

but leave hay as is
(remember that broadly speaking
forage is maintenance/tick over nutrition
feed is energy replacement - ie relates to work regime).

if the horse has too much feed in him for the work he's doing then he is likely to be more 'lively' than you want

so now you need to strike a balance
which comes down to trial and error

assuming horse is being worked at least 3 times per week
i would suggest you reduce feed by third to a half for a fortnight
(takes about that long to 'work through')
and then adjust gradually up or down from there
until you find a balance your happy with

as you already know, his is the problem when someone gets an underwieght /rescue tb..or warmblood....they are quiet because they lack energy, once you feed them up to their proper weight, the fun starts!!!!..
his feed sounds good, so you just need to up his work.or!!halve the concentrates and up the hay now he is looking well..
my rescue tb was on a feed regeim something like yours till he put on weight and looked well, he is now onto only hay as he is only ridden three times a week and would be far too much to handle if he was still on the "other stuff"...he still looks well and is also getting a bit of spring grass now...so thats enough for what he needs to do

Hi, you're right that the feed chap wants to sell you his product, this would be enough for me to doubt his advice. Alfalfa can send some horses loopy, if I were you i would cut that out straight away. Many horses don't need hard feed at all especially if they are not being ridden daily. I would suggest you consider feeding Moilchaff calmer, it can be used as a complete feed and had added magnesium and herbs. Up the hay and reduce the feed, make sure you ride 6 days a week and your horse gets regular turnout every day. Spooky horses often just need more work and less feed.
