Got new trailer last week and decided today to pop up to the local showjumping event.Soph was doing her usual 'make me get in there' routine and generally just being an arse.Pony was in the trailer already so decided to abandon the show and just get baggage in the box.shut all the ramps up and went to pull the trailer forward a bit when YO lets out a scream...meg has launched herself over the breast bar and is stuck with her back legs suspended in mid air.managed to release the bar fairly quickly and free her.Lucky pony walked away with just a scratch on her face. If we had been in my old rice trailer i don't know what we would have done.

I've just been quizzing IW today at Newport show about what safety changed they've made and I'm very tempted, but it's good to here a real life story! I might post a few questions, but won't gatecrash your post!

I take it that IW still have external allen keys for dropping the bars inside? A very good safety point.

thats good they have changed the design then-my irish draft did exactly the same thing in our IW-got stuck over the breach bar,as i went in thru jockey door he ended up upside down trapped by his leg-in this instance the bar would not release with the allen key-any way vet sedated and fire brigade got him out-he walked away sound tho!!i now have a lorry!

Just a point on the IW breast bar release system - both the new (eyebolt) and old (allen bolt) systems only release cleanly if the breast bar is fastened the correct way around inside the trailer - it needs to be hinged off the partition and fastened at the wall, not the other way around or it won't drop down when released!
