Cooling down today, loose rein and the bit falls out the horses mouth, she raises her head, gets clonked on the head by the bit... Goes to panic but then freezes for me to sort it out.

I had no idea where it came from, the reins where not totally buckle and and we where in the middle of the school. She did not stand on anything, but the reins also snapped at buckle where they join onto the bit.

Bridle is new, cleaned and used correct soap before first use, had around a week and always hang it up and take good care.

:S rang and told my mum and she said not to be so silly, ive obiously had an accident and the bridles ended up broken, or she stood on her reins... But there was no force or anything :S

Any ideas how this came about? so confused

Is there a chance somebody could've borrowed your bridle and cobble it back together?
Saying that though, I'm surprised you managed to get it on without it falling to bits.

No it's the only bridle kept there as she lives out with my youngster and im the only one that goes into where all the tack is kept.
Feel barking mad as to how it happened :S

Fault in the leather?

The bridle is Jeffries, the reins where just leather plaitted ones from a tack shop but i don't know the brand. So if it was a leather fault, the bridle and reins, wouldn't have both snapped surely ?

Something logical must have happened but I just can't put my finger on it :S
