Am I imagining this?

Just want to check that I'm not imagining it, has she lost weight?

I look back at those pictures and feel disgusted, yet when she was that big I didn't notice it! I suppose its what your used to.
I didn't really have a method, she wore a muzzle 2 or 3 times and we did lots of active walking. But I soon realised that all the horses were losing weight and just went back to riding as usual and no muzzle.
There is now not alot in the field, so losing weight is easy at the moment, just need to make sure it doesn't pile back on.
I can't get over how big she was. I stumbled across those pics today and went out to take some more for comparison. I won't ever let her get to that size again!

Much improved, we have our new horse in fat camp ATM, she was soooo fat she should have been a 5.5!, she has lost a fair bit in the month we have hd her, according to the weight tape and we can wobble her crest and feel shoulders. Ribs require considerable pressure still. Its very hard work so know how you feel.

Don't worry, last year was my first summer owning my horse and everyone kept telling me she was fat and I kept saying 'no she's not!' The YO's Dad even started talking to me about horses that he has seen on a slab with fat deposits on their heart/lungs etc! This year she is slimmer, and I have found a diet of HiFi good doer and Top Spec lite, with one haynet at night when she comes in is all she needs. Comparing this years photos to last years they were right and I was so wrong!!

And really well done for realising you had a problem, taking the advice on board and doing something about it. I've met so many people who seem to be in absolute denial about their horses weight (not least on my old yard, where every horse looks like your 'before' pictures

) Keep up the good work!
