Am I In The Wrong For Being Cheesed Off About This?

Yes - you should be cheesed off. Courtesy costs nothing in any walk of life and inconsiderate behaviour to another equestrian - of all people - should be challenged. Please write and complain.

Thanks all for sense checking me! I will write to them just to outline what happened.
There were no flags or anything, the only indication was a couple of white arrows spray painted on the floor but as I said up thread, they weren't very bold or noticeable unless you were looking for them.

What matters was that the riders were inconsiderate. The fact that you had no warning notices shouldn’t matter if they were following the rules and passed you sensibly after asking if it is ok to pass. Ideally you would have rider numbers from their bibs, but appreciate that is difficult in this sort of situation. EGB take such incidents seriously, so please do report to the EGB office as well as the ride organiser.

Just wanted to update that I did reach out to Endurance GB South East and was very impressed with their response. They certainly do take it seriously and I was actually able to pick up the riders' numbers from my local equine photographer who photographed the event, so that was handy!

I'll make sure to put it in my sodding calendar next year, whilst I would hope behaviour generally improves, I don't want to find out at the expense of my spine or otherwise on the off chance they haven't! 😂
